Not a Job Site
As much as I would love to help all chiropractors get a job that is not what this site is for. I have been working for about 6 years to get chiropractors commissioned in the US Military, or at the least to make chiropractic care actually available to all of our troops no matter where they are in the world.
I have been bombarded with requests for jobs or information on how to get jobs with the military. These requests usually show up as comments to posts that don’t even relate to the request. I have in the past just blocked the unrelated comment and emailed the questioner directly with information and a request that they help out. I have yet to have any one of these people offer to help the cause, or even leave a story about how they called their congressman.
I am now instituting a new policy. I have allowed one of these posts in now to let people see, but have removed their email to avoid them getting spammed. If you want to get information about getting a job you must first find a way to forward the cause of commissioning chiropractors and then report on it here. Feel free to leave a comment to this post or place it in a more appropriate one. Gather a story from a soldier you treated, or call your government representative and tell us the story of what happened positive or negative. Call the pentagon or the white house and report the story of how you urged them to commission chiropractors and what the reply was. Get a petition going and have as many service men and women post thier names and facilities where they would like to recieve chiropractic care, but can’t because it’s not available. Use your imagination. I will not be giving out any further job information to people who are not willing to help in the effort. This is now a little red hen site. If you don’t help, you don’t eat the bread. Please find an active way to support the commissioning of chiropractors.

I’m still new in the field. I graduated in June of 2005. I am willing to step forward and seek answers about chiropractors being commissioned bu do feel presently ignorant as to how to proceed. A little help please. Andy (Dr. Dragun DC)

The first thing to do is to see what is already being done and see if you can support it in anyway. The ACA has a page with legislative actions taking place. Many of the bills put forth need co-sponsors. Call your representatives and have them sign on as co-sponsors or get them to create a bill themselves. Last year there were resolutions calling for commissioning, but they didn’t go anywhere. They needed more support and urgency. Anytime you treat a soldier have them write their story about how they would like to get the care that has been promised them but they can’t because it’s not available where they are. Then with their permission send that story to the news. Get some attention on this topic. If there is enough attention in the media then the government will move quickly. But what you can do at this time is the ground work. Talk to others about it. Make some noise. Be heard. Then come back here and leave your story, for others to see.

We are already seeing soldiers and their immediate families free of charge at the Moody Health Center at Texas Chiropractic College. I am stunned to this article as I thought Chiros were already being commissioned!
Shocked!

Great site. Thanks for the info. Almost made to being a military D.C. after reading your site and following it on USA jobs. However, as with most gov’t jobs there is always something in the background that’s out of ones control. Something interesting are the numerous ads in gov’t jobs for medical officers in all branches of service. In the post it states they are looking for ‘primary care managers’ to conduct medical examinations in various ‘fields of medicine’ including chiropractor(ic). However, in the qualifications one must have an MD/DO degree and no mention of a Chiropractic degree qualifying. With such misinformed ambiguity as this it’s no wonder our end roads have hit a road block. Are we to assume Chiropratic is being practiced by MD/DO’s?
Regardless, thanks for the site and we press onward.

To whoever may care;
This is the dream postion for me. Its what I have wnated to do since graduation in 2000. Be commissioned in the military and serve from there. Recently, I had the oppurtunity to share my conviction and earnestness towards commissioning with The Commandant of the United States Marine Corps, and The Seargant Major of the United States Marine Corps. My son was wounded in action on July 1st in Helmund Province, Afghanistan. He was shot In the left Leg, then while moving to cover with the injury, his squad leader stepped on an IED. He suffered a complete posterior knee dislocation and multiple fractures of his right hand. While under care at Bethesda National Naval Medical Center, He was visited by the The Secretary of Defense as well. I was able to talk to the previously mentioned dignitaries about the whole Chiropractic in the military problems. They state they are working on it all the time, the most outspoken being the wife of the commandant. I just keep trying.

I have treated many physicians from the VA in my local area, and they want Chiropractic at the VA for the Vets and for themselves. I am pushing to get Chiropractic at my local VA. With the help of some of the M.D.’s i know maybe it will happen. If anyone has some suggestions to making this happen. Your input is welcome
