Chiropractors and the US Military

Just the Facts (with a little opinion)

Not a Job Site

with 6 comments

As much as I would love to help all chiropractors get a job that is not what this site is for.  I have been working for about 6 years to get chiropractors commissioned in the US Military, or at the least to make chiropractic care actually available to all of our troops no matter where they are in the world.

I have been bombarded with requests for jobs or information on how to get jobs with the military.  These requests usually show up as comments to posts that don’t even relate to the request.  I have in the past just blocked the unrelated comment and emailed the questioner directly with information and a request that they help out.  I have yet to have any one of these people offer to help the cause, or even leave a story about how they called their congressman.

I am now instituting a new policy.  I have allowed one of these posts in now to let people see, but have removed their email to avoid them getting spammed.  If you want to get information about getting a job you must first find a way to forward the cause of commissioning chiropractors and then report on it here.  Feel free to leave a comment to this post or place it in a more appropriate one.  Gather a story from a soldier you treated, or call your government representative and tell us the story of what happened positive or negative.  Call the pentagon or the white house and report the story of how you urged them to commission chiropractors and what the reply was.  Get a petition going and have as many service men and women post thier names and facilities where they would like to recieve chiropractic care, but can’t because it’s not available.  Use your imagination.  I will not be giving out any further job information to people who are not willing to help in the effort.  This is now a little red hen site.  If you don’t help, you don’t eat the bread. Please find an active way to support the commissioning of chiropractors.

US Army Europe

Southeast Asia Command

According to a new press release from the ACA the Department of Defense has chosen the 11 new sites that were mandated to begin offering chiropractic care this fall.  Among those announced are locations in Germany and Japan.  Making this fall the first time ever that our troops overseas would be able to receive the care that they were guaranteed by law over 10 years ago.  See the full press release from the ACA here.

Discussion of Health Reform

with one comment

The Obama Administration is seeking direct input from members of the public on national health care reform.  A new White House Office of Health Reform with a new website, www.healthreform.gov, is inviting individuals to tell their personal stories concerning issues, problems, positive new ideas and success stories related to national health care reform.  This is a great place for chiropractors and patients to express their desire, share their reasons and ideas to implement commissioning chiropractors.

Commissioning chiropractors will save the military money as well as provide needed care to our troops.  I will try to get more information and statistics on this as soon as I can.  If you know of a study or have some statistics to cite please leave them in the comments so that we all have amunition to back up our stories and recommendations that we leave on that website. If you are a soldier with a story to tell leave it here for us, and copy it over to http://www.healthreform.gov/communityreports/comments.html so that the policy makers can hear your voice too.

Site Back Up

leave a comment »

Due to some unforseen glitches in the transfer of the domain this site was down for a day or two.  The problem has now been remedied.  I hope there was no one needing the info for a chat with Obama yesterday.  (If you did have that appointment I would have expected a comment on here.)

Please continue to send your comments and questions, but even more beneficial would be to post them here on the blog portion of the site so that everyone can benefit from them.  Thanks again for your patience.

Talking Points

This isn’t new information, but I’ve had enough request of people meeting with their representatives asking for information that they can arm themselves with.  So here is a great link to the ACA’s issue brief from this years NCLC.  It is a PDF file and you can print it out and give it to people or just put the information in your head so that it’s easier to access when people ask you questions about the topic of commissioning chiropractors.
